I was curious as to how much San Jose valued Jason Demers and what they would want in exchange for him? |

Great signing. It's not every day a player of quality knocks on your door (almost literally) and asks where to sign. Can only improve the SJ defense with nothing given up in return. |

Pretty high on him. Look like a future top 4 dman who could one day be the PP QB.
Sharks would probably want some picks for him if they were to trade him. |

Can any of you Shark fans give me a scouting report on Andrew Murray. The Wings got him along with a later round draft pick for Stuart and was wondering if there is any upside to Murray ?? He has decent size but I don't know much about him.
Just FYI... Stuart is a solid, versatile top 4 defenseman on just about any team. He's durable and plays physical most nights. He's not perfect but usually makes the safe play when needed. |

Good signing by the Sharks.
Just have to wonder about the Wings losing 2 D men already this summer although the Wings always seem to find guys that can come in and find success immediately.
Going all in for Suter maybe? |

Yeah... the Wings defense will look much different for next season (losing two top 4 defenseman leaves some big holes to fill). Wings will make a huge push for Suter and Parise (they will go after Shultz too I'm hearing). They have the cap space for all three without any problem. They may go after Semin in Washington if Parise signs elsewhere or maybe Parenteau from NYI. Stuart is a great pickup for the Sharks... and they didn't have to give up anything in retrun |

It's funny, Andrew Murray was one of my favorite bottom 6 forward for the Sharks this past season. He was one of the fastest skaters on the team, and used his speed well tracking pucks and bodies on the forecheck.
For some reason right at the 40 games played mark, he was bounced to Worcester. I was confused because of all the bottom 6 forwards he was the only player who looked like he really wanted to skate and make plays happen. I heard rumors about him having some drama with one of the other players, like stealing his girlfriend or something. Maybe that's why he was sent to the minors and we never saw him again. |

Here's the thing about Jason Demers. When he came into the league you could see the huge potential in him as an offensive defenseman, but his defensive positioning cost us some goals against.
He seems to love playing in the playoffs and has actually played his best hockey during the playoffs.
His biggest issue is staying healthy. Every time you see him making huge strides in his defensive game he gets hurt.
If he could stay healthy and continue to develop like he is doing, he is easily a Top 4 Offensive Defenseman in this league, and has the capability to run a teams PP from the point. |

Have you heard anything about the Wings pursuing Dennis Wideman? If you can't land Suter, Wideman has been a stud for the Caps the past 2 seasons. |

I was hoping the Sharks would take advantage of Stewie desperately wanting to come back to play for San Jose, by signing him to a deal right at, or a little less than 3 mil per year. |

I would say my biggest concern about Demers is his defensive play. Even when he was healthy he was never good at it. Granted, he has an offensive upside and he can and does play on the power play but until he learns how be better and more responsible in the defensive zone he will not be a very good overall defenseman, IMO. He's only 24 though. |

I really dont think he's as good as other people believe. He hasnt seemed to improve in his defensive skills or in the hockey smarts department in the last 2 years. I thought his passing was awful (along with the rest of the team) this last year as well. My guess is that he's going to be a career 3rd pair defenseman, but I would be thrilled to be wrong.
I would take a 3-4 line winger and mid-round draft pick for him. |

It's about time Kronwall will start to get the ice time he deserves now that he's not under Lidstrom's shadow |

Haven't heard anything yet regarding the Wings looking at Wideman... I think they're bent on signing Suter and will throw big bucks at him. If Suter signs elsewhere though they may take a good look at him. After Suter is gone.. there isn't much left to choose from for available defensemen. Most folks in Detroit are saying if the Wings don't land Suter they may try to make bold trade to get a top 4 defenseman from somewhere else. Ken Holland is not known for making trades... but he's out of options if he can't sign at least one top level free agent defenseman to help fill the holes left from Lids and Stuart.
The Wings do have a bunch of excellent prospects in their system right now that are developing that Holland might package as part of a trade. The best bunch they've had since the early 1990's.... Jurko, Jarnkrok, Tverden, Pulkinen... to name a few... These kids got a lot of potential but only time will tell if they make Wings roster. I think the Wings and Sharks are two of the best organizations for scouting and developing their draft picks. |

Ryan is available again. I'd give my right arm for him.
No way he gets traded within the division though |

I love that Cammy mentions leadership.
That is one thing they need more all the time ... but one wonders. With all this damn leadership on the team who the hell still has the time for some actual ... HOCKEY!
